Before you can simulate a GPS location, you need to connect your device to MinkMap. The first connection requires a USB cable. After that, you can connect wirelessly — see Wireless Connection.

Prerequisites

  • A USB cable that connects your iPhone or iPad to your computer
  • The MinkMap helper app installed and running on your computer
  • Developer Mode enabled on your device

Connect your device

1

Open MinkMap in your browser

Go to minkmap.com in your browser. Make sure the MinkMap helper app is already running in the background on your computer.
2

Plug in your device

Connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer using a USB cable.
3

Trust the computer on your device

When your device prompts you with Trust This Computer?, tap Trust. You may need to enter your device passcode to confirm.
4

Select your device in MinkMap

In the MinkMap web app, open the device dropdown and select your device from the list.
5

Click Connect

Click the Connect button. MinkMap will establish a connection to your device and you’ll be ready to simulate a location.
After the first USB connection, WiFi is enabled automatically. On future visits to minkmap.com, your device will appear in the dropdown without a cable — as long as both your device and computer are on the same WiFi network. See Wireless Connection for details.
